Blooms
Where does the strength of flowers lie, and whence comes their disarming power? Once the symbol of 1960s peace, flowers take on a new form in Blooms, bridging strength and vulnerability, hardness and softness. Crafted via Japanese Raku firing, fine porcelain and coarse clay merge into bold, sculptural forms marked by streaks of orange, red, copper, and charcoal—created by the smoke of burning dried flowers. While their metallic finish gives these phallic shapes a steel-like permanence born from fire, the balloon-like objects retain a playful, dynamic fluidity. Resilient yet flexible, Blooms gives the power of flowers a newly forged aesthetic for turbulent times.
