BLEU

Bleu is an experimental series investigating the chemical reaction and aesthetic interaction between glass and glaze. To isolate the material transformations, the study focuses exclusively on the color blue—utilizing specialized Raku and high-fire glazes as well as blue pigments to tint the liquid ceramic body. This process was complemented by blue Bullseye glass in various forms, including rods, sheets, and powder. The research focused on how these materials interact under varying thermal conditions. Specifically, the reaction between glaze and glass produced a distinct, foamy structure that gives the pieces a surprising lightness. The resulting series captures the transition of components from liquid to solid, highlighting the stark contrast between the porous, aerated glaze and the perfectly smooth glass surface.
