3D FUSION
3D-Fusion is an experimental series that redefines the boundaries between cutting-edge additive manufacturing and the traditional art of glassblowing. The aim of the work was to transfer the precise, algorithmic aesthetic of 3D printing onto the organic medium of glass as a tactile relief. The technical foundation was a surface generated using Grasshopper, with a structure controlled by three variable parameters and projected onto cylindrical forms. These designs were then 3D-printed as two- or three-part ceramic molds. In the artisanal process, the ceramic served as a heat-resistant matrix: after the molds were coated in soot, molten glass was blown directly into them. Various material states of the ceramic were tested—from air-dried to biscuit-fired at 950°C—to investigate how differently the glass adopts the fine, layered texture of the print.
